I have been engagement secretary since 1997 when I was given my first major task of controlling the band's musical tour at St Ives.

I have been a member of the committee since 1996 and treasurer since 2000. I am better known by my nickname 'Gillybobs' given to me on holiday in Germany by the band.

You will find me at band every Tuesday and Friday at the start with the groups of trainers and beginners. Often found eating my tea there as I go straight to band from work. Dobcross Youth Band became part of my life when my two 'boys' learnt to play and became part of the band and I have continued as treasurer since Alistair left 2 years ago.

I collect subscriptions and instrument hire for band and count buckets of money from band jobs. Some say that I keep a tight control of the money, BUT that's my job.

I organise the flea market every year and have a reputation for all things food, including Whit Friday & Beer Walk BBQs. For band holidays, I 'magic' breakfast and tea for holiday coach journeys, and organise the tuck shop.
